genk maintain lead despite draw, wounded anderlecht seek redemption

Genk remained at the top of the 2018/19 Belgian Pro League standings despite drawing on match-day 12 over the weekend.

Match-day 12 action began on Friday with Gent securing a 2-1 home win over Sporting Charleroi, who scored through Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.

Pro League champions Club Brugge are now winless in their last three games after drawing 2-2 with Sint-Truiden away on Saturday.

Theo Bongonda, who is of Congolese descent, was on the scoresheet as his side Zulte Waregem drew 2-2 with Royal Excel Mouscron at home.

On Sunday, Belgian giants Anderlecht suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat to AS Eupen away with Zimbabwe international Knowledge Musona playing the entire game for the former.

Genk remained at the top of the league standings after drawing 1-1 with Nigeria international Uche Agbo's Standard Liege away.

Match-day 13 action will take place in midweek with Club Brugge playing host to KV Oostende on Tuesday, while Sint-Truiden will be away to Charleroi.

Antwerp, who have DRC Congo international Dieumerci Mbokani on their books, are expected to host log leaders Genk on Wednesday.

Anderlecht will be desperate for a victory when they welcome Standard Liege on Thursday.
