celtic continue good form, rangers turn focus to league cup

The defending champions Celtic FC secured their third successive win on match-day nine of the 2018/19 Scottish Premier League campaign over the weekend.

Celtic moved to second place on the league standings after beating Nigeria international Efe Ambrose's Hibernian 4-2 at home in a thrilling encounter on Saturday.

Burundi international Gael Birigimana was an unused substitute as his side, Motherwell lost 1-0 to St Johnstone at home, while Dundee suffered a 4-0 defeat to Livingston away.

DR Congolese midfielder Aaron Tshibola was on the scoresheet for Kilmarnock, who secured a 2-1 victory over St Mirren away.

Congo-Brazzaville international Clevid Dikamona's Hearts remained at the top of the league standings after recording a 2-1 over Aberdeen at home.

One game was played on Sunday with Mali international Lassana Coulibaly's Rangers thumping a hapless Hamilton Academical 4-1 away.

A league encounter between Dundee and Hearts is scheduled to be played on Tuesday.

Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen and Hearts will be in action in the Scottish League Cup semi-finals this weekend.

Celtic will be away to Hearts, while Aberdeen are scheduled to host Rangers. Both games will be played on Sunday.

The 2018/19 Scottish Premiership highlights show will be beamed on Fox Sports 1 on Tuesday at 19h30 CAT.
