genk supplant club brugge atop pro league log, zulte-waregem look end losing streak

Genk moved to the top of the Belgian Pro League standings after recording a win on match-day 11 of the 2018/19 campaign over the weekend.

Ghanaian defender Joseph Aidoo played the entire match as Genk edge out AS Eupen 2-1 at home on Saturday.

As a result, Genk replaced Club Brugge at the top of the league standings with the latter having drawn 1-1 with Waasland-Beveren on Friday.

Larry Azouni, who hails from Tunisia, helped KV Kortrijk overcome Sint-Truiden 3-1 at home, while Lokeren lost 2-1 to Antwerp away.

Anderlecht recorded their second successive victory when they defeated Cercle Brugge 4-2 at home on Sunday.

DR Congolese striker Anthony Limbombe grabbed a brace as Gent thumped KV Oostende 4-0 away.

Match-day 12 action will start on Friday with Gent taking on Mali international Adama Niane's Sporting Charleroi.

Zulte-Waregem, who have lost their last eight league games, will be keen to end their losing streak when they face Royal Excel Mouscron on Saturday.

The biggest game of the weekend will be between Standard Liege and Genk on Sunday.
