Round eight of the 2018/19 Scottish Premier League (SPL) campaign saw Hearts suffer their first defeat of the season.

Four games were played on Saturday with Hibernian hammering Hamilton Academical 6-0 at home with Nigerian defender Efe Ambrose helping the hosts keep a clean sheet.

DR Congo international Aaron Tshibola played 75 minutes as his side Kilmarnock edged out Dundee 2-1 away in an entertaining encounter

South African midfielder Keaghan Jacobs was on the score sheet as Livingston drew 1-1 with Motherwell away.

Aberdeen returned to winning ways in the league after beating a struggling St Mirren side 4-1 at home in an enthralling game.

On Sunday, Hearts remained at the top of the league standings despite losing 3-1 to Rangers away.

Lastly, defending champions Celtic, who have DR Congolese midfielder Yusuf Mulumbu on their books, hammered a hapless St Johnstone side 6-0 away.

The SPL action will continue after the upcoming FIFA international break.
