Bout 6: WBA Pan Africa Featherweight Title Fight (12 rounds)
Boxers: Rofhiwa ‘War Child’ Maemu v Tello ‘King Razor’ Lithebe
Winner: Rofhiwa ‘War Child’ Maemu by majority decision (115-113, 114-114, 115-113)

Rofhiwa ‘War Child’ Maemu defended his WBA Pan Africa Featherweight Title after beating Tello ‘King Razor’ Lithebe by majority decision (115-113, 114-114, 115-113) at Meropa Casino & Entertainment World in Polokwane on Friday, September 21.

Maemu controlled the opening rounds with his high energy, aggressive work-rate and the attacking of his opponent’s body which saw him up on the scorecard early on.

Lithebe, though, didn’t panic and slowly worked his way back into the fight in the middle rounds as he started to find his range, using his jab and upper-cut to score points as Maemu tried to box on the inside.

As the fight progressed it became clear that the King Razor was happy to dance around the ring and fight on the outside, behind his jab and counter upper-cut which was scoring.

Maemu seemed to have no answer for his opponent until the ninth round when he started using his jab and left hook again to regain the ascendancy.

War Child upped the tempo in the final rounds and was the busier of the two fighters.

In the end, it was Maemu’s pure determination and the mere fact that he threw a huge amount of punches which won him a fight that, to be honest, wasn’t really pretty to watch.

The victory takes Maemu’s fight record to W17 L7 D2 while Lithebe’s record stands at W20 L10.
