Bout 5: International Lightweight Contest (6 rounds)
Boxers: Raymond ‘Litutu The Killer’ Kupula v Steven Bagwasi
Winner: Steven Bagwasi via unanimous decision (60-54, 60-54, 58-56)

Bout five of Africa Boxing 9 saw Botswanan Steven Bagwasi beat Raymond ‘Litutu The Killer’ Kupula via unanimous decision (60-54, 60-54, 58-56) in an International Lightweight Contest at Meropa Casino & Entertainment World in Polokwane on Friday, September 21.

The first round saw both boxers feeling each other out with neither really taking any unnecessary risks, but the Botswanan did land the more scoring blows.

Bagwasi upped the tempo and pace in the second round and took the fight by the scruff of the neck as his opponent looked a little bewildered.

The Botswanan was simply just more clinical in the remaining rounds and his dominance was highlighted by a massive cut that opened up above the left eye of Kupula in the third round.

In fact, Kupula was lucky to escape the third round without being knocked down but it was just a sign of things to come.

Bagwasi comfortably picked his opponent apart at will in the last three rounds and earned an easy victory which takes his fight record to five wins and no losses while Kupula’s record reads W8 L9 D1.

Kupula, though, should be commended for his efforts on the night because he showed a lot of heart and character, and kept pressing forward despite receiving massive punishment.
