Bout 2: International Featherweight Contest (4 rounds)
Boxers: Rirothe ‘Zonke’ Randima v Tshepang ‘Gearbox’ Babui
Winner: Tshepang ‘Gearbox’ Babui (via split decision 39-36, 36-39, 37-38)

The second bout of Africa Boxing 9 saw Botswanan Tshepang ‘Gearbox’ Babui beat South African Rirother ‘Zonke’ Randima via a split decision (39-36, 36-39, 37-38) in an International Featherweight Contest at Meropa Casino & Entertainment World in Polokwane on Friday, September 21.

Randima controlled the first round, using his reach to hit and move as he scored effectively. Gearbox, on the other hand, spent the round swinging wildly and constantly missing the mark.

That was not the case in the second round with both fighters opting to hold each other in the close exchanges which made for a very sloppy affair with neither fighter landing any significant blows.

The third round saw Gearbox deducted a point early on for holding his opponent, but that didn’t seem to deter the Botswanan who spent the rest of the round landing the majority of the shots with left and right hooks, both to the body and the head of Randima.

Gearbox took control of the fight in the fourth and final round with a solid jab to the body followed by an overhand right which left the South African rocked and running around the ring trying to avoid punishment.

The win is Babui’s fourth of his professional career and takes his fight record to W4 L1 D2 while the loss for Randima is his second and takes his fight record to W1 L2.
