Naby Keita has named former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso as the toughest opponent he has come up against to date.
Keita, 23, has made a huge impact in his first few months on Merseyside, following his move from German Bundesliga club RP Leipzig.
The Guinea international, who came up against Alonso on a couple of occasions in Germany's top-flight, has earmarked the former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich ace as the hardest player he has faced.
“When I used to play against Bayern, Xabi Alonso always used to give me a really hard time,” said Keita in a special interview in which he answered questions from Reds fans, as per the club's official website.
“He was so experienced, he made me suffer. The way he’d keep switching play just meant that you could never stop running. He was very intelligent.”
Keita has featured in all four of Liverpool's game this season, with the club having recorded four wins from four English Premier League games to sit top of the standings
