Liverpool FC have been likened to German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich by Brighton and Hove Albion defender Leon Balogun.
The Nigeria international played the entire match as his side succumbed to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in an English Premier League (EPL) game at the Anfield Stadium on Saturday.
It was Balogun’s second match in the EPL since joining Brighton from Bundesliga club Mainz 05 on a free transfer in July 2018.
During his 11-year career in Germany, Balogun faced Bayern and Borussia Dortmund, who were once coached by current Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
"I will compare this game to playing against Bayern Munich or maybe even Borussia Dortmund when Klopp was there," Balogun said on Liverpool Echo.
"The game was very fast. Quick attack - that much is obvious - and there's more pace than the Bundesliga, definitely and much more quality, even.
"So, it was tough but I think we showed a great display as a team and that is why we are so disappointed because if we are lucky at the end, we might even get a point,” he added.
Brighton went into their encounter with Liverpool having stunned EPL giants Manchester United 3-2 in a league game.
"We knew we had to be on top of our game again like last week, but at the same time, Liverpool, they play different football than Manchester United,” he added.
"As I said before they use their quickness in the attack, they have a lot of runners to be always aware [of].
"Manchester didn't come up with that kind of play last week, so you had to be much more aware of all the runs in the back of the defence."
