Difaa El Jadidi will chase a quarterfinal berth in the CAF Champions League when they face hosts TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi on Tuesday, August 28, kick-off at 15h00 CAT.
Mazembe come into the match after a 1-1 draw away to ES Setif on August 17. The DR Congo giants found themselves 1-0 down after Mohamed Bakir opened the scoring for the Algerians, but Kabaso Chongo struck back to secure a share of the spoils.
The result left the Ravens at the top of the Group B log on 11 points and they are already guaranteed not only to advance into the last eight, but also enjoy a seeded position for the quarterfinal draw.
Difaa, meanwhile, kept their tournament alive last time out when they claimed a 2-0 home win over MC Alger. Bilal El Megri and Simon Msuva struck the goals for the Moroccan side as they picked up their first win of the group stage.
The El Jadida-based club are in a three-way tie with Algerian sides ESS and MCA – all have five points heading into this final game, but only one will advance alongside Mazembe.
Difaa know that a win at Stade TP Mazembe will secure progression, while a draw will be enough if the other group game – which will be played simultaneously in Algiers and sees MCA host ESS at Stade du 5 Juillet 1962 – also ends all square.
Seychelles referee Bernard Camille will take charge of the match in Lubumbashi.
