Yaya Toure
Olympique Marseille president Jacques-Henri Eyraud has explained that his club is unlikely to sign Ivorian legend Yaya Toure.

The 35-year-old is a free agent after being released by Manchester City at the end of last season, but he has yet to sign with any club.

Marseille are in the market for a midfielder after they lost Frank Zambo Anguissa to Premier League side Fulham.

Toure has been reported as a possible target for OM, as they look to build a team capable of challenging Paris Saint-Germain for Ligue 1 dominance.

However, Marseille president Eyraud told L’Equipe: "Since the departure of Anguissa, we are working on players in this sector [midfield], yes.

"We're looking at players of profiles of different natures: more experienced, some younger. It cannot be Yaya Toure? No."

The former Elephants captain would reportedly have to take a major pay-cut if he is to join Marseille.

Toure’s high wage demands mean a move to the money-rich leagues in the Middle East or China may be a more realistic proposition.
