Aston Villa are reportedly set to hijack Yannick Bolasie’s loan from Everton to EFL Championship rivals Middlesbrough.
The DR Congo attacker and Everton teammate Mo Besic are said to have held talks with Boro manager Tony Pulis over a proposed double move to the Riverside Stadium on Monday.
The two players travelled to Teesside on Sunday night and stayed at the club's training ground hotel, which is owned by Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson, but Villa have now complicated matters by making a late move for Bolasie.
The 29-year-old travelled to Villa's training ground on Tuesday, and it now appears he has a decision to make after loan offers were made by both clubs.
Bolasie, who joined Everton from Crystal Palace in 2016, has been told he is surplus to requirements at Goodison Park by manager Marco Silva.
He has made only 32 appearances for Everton, having suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury which kept him out for more than a year.
Should be join the Villains, Bolasie would bolster the African contingent at the Championship club which already includes Ghana’s Albert Adomah, Ivorian attacker Jonathan Kodjia and Egyptian wingback Ahmed Elmohamady.
Villa will be in Championship action tonight when they host Brentford. The match kicks off at 20h45 CAT and will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1.
