Senegal captain Cheikhou Kouyate is looking forward to playing for his new club, Crystal Palace in the English Premier League (EPL).
The central midfielder made his first appearance in a Palace shirt with seventeen minutes remaining of Saturday’s 4-1 victory against Toulouse in a friendly match.
The 28-year-old was pleased post-match to reflect on the important win with the start of the season only now a week away.
“I am so excited to have had the chance to play for my new club in this game and I feel very good,"Kouyate told the club's official website.
“It was good for our confidence to win this game but the tactic now is to be ready for the Fulham game because that we are now at just a week before that game.”
Having joined the club last week Wednesday, Kouyate makes the move across London during the middle of pre-season and is already to settle into his new club, with help from some members of the squad that he already knows.
“I am ready to get started but all the players have made me very welcome, making me feel at home but it is now about me getting myself ready to play in the team," he added.
The Hammers will open their 2018/19 EPL season against Liverpool FC at the Anfield Stadium on Sunday.
“Pape, Tomkins and Luka, everybody has been helping me to settle into this team and now I must continue to work hard for this season and hopefully have an unbelievable season for this team.”
“We are all looking forward to it beginning and cannot wait.”
