Italian Serie A giants AS Roma have reportedly rekindled their interest in Morocco international Hakim Ziyech.
The attacking midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Roma from Dutch Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam during the recent FIFA World Cup finals which were hosted by Russia.
However, Ziyech remained at Ajax and he helped the team reach the third round of 2018/19 UEFA Champions League.
According to leading Italian football news outlet Calciomercato, Roma have renewed their interest in Ziyech.
“The number of 10 in Ajax passes from Moroccan to Tadic.”
“Calcuomercato Roma Ziyech Ajax/The future of Hakim Ziyech is again poised. The Moroccan player no longer has the number 10 shirt, in Ajax, finished by the choice of the club on the shoulders of the newcomer Dusan Tadic.”
“Another clue about his possible goodbye. Tadic himself has admitted that he does not know if Ziyech will be his team-mate this season. Calciomercato.it has unveiled today the re-opening of Ajax to its transfer to Rome.”
“After spending a lot to buy Labyad, Tadic and Blind, Ajax would like to recover part of the millions spent through sales. For a long time, the Dutch leadership has granted Hakim Ziyech the go-ahead, but after the five-year deal with the player, Rome had frozen negotiations with the Dutch in the face of requests for 35-37 million euros,” (translated from Italian) Calciomento reported on their website.
The new 2018/19 Eredivisie season will start on the weekend of 10-12 August. Make sure you watch the matches on Fox Sports.
