Ghanaian-born midfielder Alphonso Davies is set to complete a move to Bayern Munich from Major League Soccer.
The 17-year-old is on the books of Vancouver Whitecaps in the United States of America and his club has agreed to sell him to the German Bundesliga giants.
According to the MLS official website, Davies is currently in Philadelphia where Bayern are preparing for their friendly against Juventus on Wednesday night.
Moreover, Davies will remain with the Whitecaps through the end of the MLS season before moving to Germany.
It is also reported that the player who opted to represent Canada at international level will not be officially eligible to join Munich’s roster until he turns 18 in November.
Despite sketchy details regarding the move, reports suggest that Vancouver will collect a $13 million transfer fee that could rise significantly to $20 milliondepending on whether Davies hits various incentives.
Seen as one of the most exciting young players in MLS, Davies has three goals and eight assists in 20 league appearances this year.
Born to Liberian parents in the Gomoa East District of Ghana, his parents moved to Canada when Davies was five and received Canadian citizenship in 2017.
