The sixth and final bout of Africa Boxing 8 sees South African/DR Congolese Patrick ‘The Panther’ Mukala take on Tanzanian Ibrahim Maokola in a 12-round International Super Middleweight contest at the Big Top Arena in Carnival City, Johannesburg, on Friday night, July 20.
The bout was originally scheduled to be a 12-round WBA Pan-African Super Middleweight title fight, but challenger Maokola failed to make the required weight limit of 76.20kg and weighed-in at 0.40kg over.
Mukala, the current WBA Pan-African Super Middleweight champion, comfortably made the weight limit and agreed to fight Maokola despite the Tanzanian being over which means the champion can not lose his title irrespective of the result

The 24-year-old Mukala fights out of Johannesburg, South Africa and had his first career fight in August 2014.
Maokola is currently ranked 278 in the Super Middleweight division and has had 17 career fights: W12 L3 D2. His most recent bout was a win over Ibrahim Tamba at Uhuru Stadium in Dar-Es-Salaam in November 2017.
The 25-year-old Maokola hails from Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania and had his first career fight in October 2011.
The Africa Boxing 8 event will get underway at 19h00 (CAT) with the undercard bout, but will be shown live on Fox Sports 2 and streamed live via the Facebook page (Fox Sports Africa) from 20h00 (CAT).
