Nicolas Prost says he is hopeful of a drive in the 2018/19 Formula E season despite his impending departure from the Renault e.dams team.
Prost, the son of four-time Formula 1 world champion Alain Prost, will leave Renault after four seasons with the French team.
He scored three victories and finished in third place in the second Formula E season with Renault e.dams.
Several teams are expected to change their line-ups for next season and Prost believes the volatile market will give him a chance of securing another drive in the all-electric series.
“The driver market is interesting at the moment and I would say quite interesting as more manufacturers come in and so on so we will see what opportunities there are around,” Prost told e-racing365.
“There are at least two teams that are interested in me and there is so much going on but I certainly want to explore good chances for Season Five.
“At the moment there is perhaps as many as seven or eight seats that are up for grabs which means some interesting times ahead I think.”
Prost’s final races with Renault will be at the double-header in New York City this coming weekend and he hopes to end the association with the team on a high.
“You know, I never give up, even when things are bad and it is hard to get a result for whatever reason,” said Prost.
“At Zurich there was bad luck as I had a good quali and was not far from Seb [Buemi].
“There are things which have been difficult and I am the first to say that the new tires are not suited to me but I have to make the best of it.
“At New York I really want to get a result for us all in the team because it has genuinely been a pleasure to go racing with them.”
