Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) basketball player Kevin Tumba has extended his contract with Spanish Liga ACB side UCAM Murcia.
The 27-year-old center helped Murcia reach the last four of the 2017/18 Basketball Champions League where they lost to Greek giants AEK Athens.
Murcia finished third after defeating German side MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg in the third-place playoff match.
Tumba, who lives in Belgium, represented the senior men's Belgian national basketball team at the EuroBasket 2015, where they lost to Greece in the round of 16, by a score of 54–75.
Murcia released the following statement regarding Tumba, who has played more than 70 matches for the team:
“The Belgian pivot renews for the season 18/19.”
“He has been one of the most important players during the last campaign in the UCAM Murcia.”
“His fighting spirit, his defensive intensity, his muscle and his intimidation have helped to form the identity of a warrior team, capable of reaching the Final Four of the Basketball Champions League and that has been one step away from the playoff of the Endesa League.”
“Kevin Tumba arrived in February 2017 to the university team to replace Vitor Faverani. Since then, he has played more than 70 matches between Liga Endesa and European competition.”
“He has integrated perfectly into the ranks of Murcia, in the dressing room and in the city. It has even been in the capital of Segura, where his first daughter, Eleonor, was born. The UCAM Murcia renews one of the Tercios,” a statement read.
