Herbalife Gran Canaria have announced the departure of their head coach Luis Casimiro Palomo Cardenas.
The 57-year-old tactician will part ways with the Spanish side at the end of this month having failed to lead the team to the 2017/18 Liga ACB playoffs finals.
Canaria were defeated 3-0 in the ACB playoffs semifinals by the newly crowned EuroLeague champions Real Madrid Baloncesto last week.
Casimiro had joined Canaria from CB Sevilla in 2016 and he lead the team to the Supercopa de Espana in his first year with the club.
Nicknamed Granca, Canaria released the following statement:
A club statement read: “Luis Casimiro Palomo Cardenas will not continue as coach of Herbalife Gran Canaria. The link between the Claretian club and the Puertollano coach concludes at the end of this month.”
“Luis Casimiro arrived at Herbalife Gran Canaria in the summer of 2016 replacing Aíto García Reneses.”
“With him on the bench, the club has maintained the ascendant line of previous courses reaching unprecedented milestones in the history of the entity. In September 2016, the Herbalife Gran Canaria was proclaimed Endesa Supercopa champion, adding his first professional title.”
