Dutch Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam have promoted Brian Brobbey to their first team from the club’s academy.
The highly-rated striker, who is of Ghanaian descent, signed a contract which takes effect on July 1, 2018, and will be valid until June 30, 2021.
Brobbey has played with both the Ajax U17s and U19s, and he netted 34 goals which made him the top scorer for club’s youth teams.
The 16-year-old marksman earned the European Championship with the Dutch U17s. He helped Holland win the 2018 U17 European Championship title in England.
The powerful forward, who hit the back of the net in the final against Italy, was joint top scorer of the tournament, with three goals.
The Sons of the Gods released the following statement about the gifted forward:
A club statement read: “Ajax has signed Brian Brobbey (Amsterdam, February 1, 2002).”
“On Thursday afternoon, the 16 year-old striker signed a contract which takes effect on July 1, 2018, and will be valid until June 30, 2021. It’s the player’s first contract.”
“Brobbey has been playing in Ajax’s academy since 2010. The youth international played with both the Ajax U17s and U19s. With 34 goals, he was the top scorer of the Ajax youth teams.”
“In addition, Brobbey earned the European Championship with the Dutch U17s. The powerful forward was joint top scorer of the tournament, with 3 goals.”
Brobbey joins fellow Africans, Cameroon international Andre Onana, Morocco trio Hakim Ziyech, Zakaria El Azzouzi and Zakaria Labyad in the Ajax first team.
