Wesley Sneijder has called time on his football career.

The former Ajax Amsterdam midfielder has announced his retirement from football.


Sneijder came through the ranks at the Dutch club, netting 58 goals and assisting a further 45 in 180 appearances before joining Spanish giants Real Madrid in 2007.


He spent just two years in the Spanish capital before signing for Inter Milan where he played an integral part in the club’s 2010 Uefa Champions League victory under Jose Mourinho.

The 35-year-old spent the last few years of his career in Turkey, France and Qatar, playing for Galatasaray, OGC Nice and Al Gharafa respectively.


He scored 30 goals in 134 appearances for the Netherlands. You can relive some of his best moments for Ajax right here.
