Hakim Ziyech (L) of Ajax celebrates scoring

Amidst continuous transfer rumours circulating around Hakim Ziyech, the Ajax star has signed a contract extension that will keep him in Amsterdam for another three years.

The Moroccan International was tipped to join the likes of Arsenal or Bayern Munich during the European summer, but has instead opted to add an additional year to his current contract with the Eredivisie champions.

Ziyech directly contributed to 45 goals in 49 games for Ajax Amsterdam during a very successful 2018/19 campaign which saw the Dutch club win a domestic double as well as reaching the semi-finals of the Uefa Champions League.

The club from Amsterdam seemed to be suffering a far too familiar fate with multiple stars exiting the club in July, and it was believed that the Moroccan would join the likes of club captain Matthijs De Ligt and star midfielder Frenkie De Jong, who both ended their stays in Holland over the last few months.

The contract extension provides the club with some respite as they seek to defend their Eredivisie title.
