Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus has received a two-month international ban.

The Brazilian striker has been banned for his behaviour after he was red-carded during the 2019 COPA America final last month.

Jesus was sent off during Brazil’s 3-1 win over Peru at the Estádio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro.

The 22-year-old then kicked a water bottle, before pushing the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) monitor as he left the pitch.

Jesus has also been fined $30,000 and he has seven days to appeal.

The former Palmeiras marksman is now expected to miss Brazil’s friendly matches against Colombia and Peru in September 2019.

South American football governing the body, CONMEBOL released the following statement:

“Gabriel Jesus is suspended for two months from the day following the notification of this decision.”

“Consequently, the player is suspended to play official and friendly matches with his national team in that period of time,” a statement read.
