According to reports, the Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit have expressed their interest in signing the World Cup winner.
The Mirror reports that representatives from DC United and Arsenal will meet in Washington next week to discuss a potential transfer.
DC are eager to find a big-name replacement for former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, who will return to England with Derby County in January.

Top of the club’s wish-list is 2014 World Champion, Ozil, who still has two years left on his current Arsenal deal.
The 30-year-old joined the Gunners from Real Madrid in 2013, playing a key role in three FA Cup wins over the past six years.
In total, the German has scored 43 goals and assisted a further 74 in 231 appearances for the North London club.
