New Heerenveen defender Ricardo van Rhijn has been praised for his defensive versatility.
The experienced player has joined the Dutch Eredivisie side on a one-year deal.
Van Rhijn has been a free agent since parting ways with Eredivisie giants AZ Alkmaar at the end of last season.
Heerenveen technical manager Gerry Hamstra explained why the club snapped up the 28-year-old player.
“We wanted to further strengthen our selection,” Hamstra said.
“Ricardo is a very experienced player who has played matches at the highest level and has won various prizes.
