According to reports, the 24-year-old has left the USA national team preparing for the upcoming Basketball showpiece, citing a family matter.

Randle, who averaged a career-high 21.4 points with 8.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists for the New Orleans Pelicans last season, joined the New York Knicks last month.

The Knicks big man follows a catalogue of fellow NBA stars to withdraw from Team USA’s pre FIBA World Cup training camp with Bradley Beal (Washington Wizards); Anthony Davis (Los Angeles Lakers), James Harden (Houston Rockets) and Damian Lillard among the players to declare themselves unavailable in recent weeks.

The 15 players remaining in the provisional squad will gather in Las Vegas on Monday for a five-day training camp with the final roster to be announced later this month.

Team USA will be hoping to clinch their third World Cup title in succession in China later this year, following wins in Turkey and Spain.
