Enyimba defender Ifeanyi Anaemena believes the Nigerian club need to have some tough preparation matches ahead of facing Burkina Faso’s Rahimo FC in the CAF Champions League.
The People’s Elephant will be in action in the preliminary round later this month, with the first leg in Burkina Faso on August 9-11 before the return game in Nigeria two weeks later.
Enyimba are currently in their offseason, with the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) having been in recess since June.
“We have to work hard because the league is yet to start and we are going for a competitive game, we are already playing some friendly games but I expect more,” Anaemena told Goal in an exclusive interview.
“I know the management are working hard to get us some good games, I am looking forward to us playing the likes of Heartland, Enugu Rangers, Abia Warriors and the other NPFL teams in this side, so we can have a good test to know how prepared we are.”
Anamena admits he knows next to nothing about Enyimba’s opponents for the continental competition, but remains confident that the People’s Elephant will prevail over the pair of matches.
“I have not played against a team from Burkina Faso but I know we have the quality to overcome them over the two legs,” Anaemena added.
