The Brazilian winger formed an integral part of the squad that won a Dutch domestic double and reached the Uefa Champions League semi-finals last season, duly attracting strong interest from several clubs across Europe.
Neres scored 12 goals and assisted a further 15 in 50 appearances across all competitions in what was a memorable season for the 22-year-old.
He was also part of Brazil's Copa America winning squad, featuring twice as the tournament hosts won their ninth title.

"I'm having a beer because I have something to celebrate. I have to be back at Ajax on July 28. My future is with Ajax," the forward told Goal during Brazil's title celebrations.
"Now it's time to celebrate. We had a nice party in the dressing room. We danced and after that it was time to see my family.
"It was a good experience for me to be here and play with experienced players. I feel older myself and more experienced. That's good for my development."
