Cocu has replaced Frank Lampard, who recently left the club for English Premier League giants Chelsea FC.

“We are delighted to welcome Phillip Cocu as our new manager," Morris said.

“We are continuing to develop our philosophy at Derby County and from the first conversation with Phillip, and his team, it was very clear they share similar views.

“The fit is strong. We want to build on the momentum that we have in our style of play, our club values, and the increasingly important role of our Academy. Phillip and his team understand the need and benefits of this approach.

“We had very specific criteria for identifying a new manager."

Yankees' Torres delighted after being named in MLB All-Star Team

New York Yankees second baseman and shortstop Gleyber Torres has expressed his delight after being named in the Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Team.

“I’m super excited,” said Torres, who was added to the American League All-Star team prior to the Yankees’ recent game against Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field.

“It’s a dream come true, for sure, to play in the All-Star Game. I’m super excited. I can’t wait to go to Cleveland and play for the first time.”

Torres will join teammates Gary Sanchez, DJ LeMahieu and Aroldis Chapman on the AL roster at the Midsummer Classic.

According to the MLB website, Yankees manager Aaron Boone beamed as he talked about the phone call he received from general manager Brian Cashman and then being able to call Torres with the good news.

“I was very excited. It was a good way to wake up this morning,” said Boone, who voiced his displeasure Wednesday about Torres not being an All-Star.

“Always fun news to deliver, [he’s] very deserving, and 22 [years old], he’s got two under his belt now.”
Cocu guided PSV to three Dutch Eredivisie titles during five full seasons in charge between 2013 and 2018.
