The 33-year-old has signed a one-year contract at PSV Eindhoven, returning to the club to work under former teammate Mark van Bommel.
Affellay rose through the youth ranks at the Dutch giants before breaking into the First Team as a 17-year-old in 2004.
He would go onto achieving great success with the club over the next seven years, winning four league titles before his move to FC Barcelona in 2011.

The midfielder, though, struggled to find his feet in Spain and following loan spells at Schalke 04 and Olympiacos he eventually joined English side Stoke City four years ago.
Injuries hampered his time with the Potters who eventually parted company with the Dutch international in January of this year. Affelay duly returned home where he has been training over the last few months and he has done enough to impress Van Bommel who handed him a short-term deal.
"I spent 15 years of my life at this club and I like the mentality here," he told PSV's official website. "I experienced that once again in the past few months. I am excited to get to work here again."
Afellay has scored 39 goals and assisted a further 24 in 217 appearances for PSV.
