Dwight Gayle
West Bromwich Albion manager Jimmy Shan says his team needs to play “on the front foot” for the return leg of their EFL Championship playoff semifinal against Aston Villa tonight.

The Baggies will host Villa at the Hawthorns, with the match live on Fox Sports 1 from 20h40 CAT.

Villa hold a 2-1 lead from the first leg in Birmingham this past weekend, where West Brom claimed an early lead through Dwight Gayle but the hosts hit back through late goals from Conor Hourihane and Tammy Abraham.

"Our approach [at the Hawthorns] is going to have to be very, very different because we need to win a game," Shan told Sky Sports.

"They [Villa] can maybe adopt some of the tactics we did [at Villa Park] in trying to deny space and things like that.

"But we have to be on the front foot now and we've got a mentality to win a game of football.”

The last time the teams met at Albion's ground, Villa recorded a 2-2 draw with Anwar El Ghazi netting a double. The same scoreline and result would see Villa advancing to the final at Wembley against either Leeds United or Derby County.

Shan will need to make at least one change to his team, with Gayle suspended after picking up a red card for two bookable offences in the first leg.
