Caleb Porter believes the Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise are turning into the Manchester City of the division.
Porter's club fell to a 3-0 loss at home to LAFC this past weekend, prompting the Crew boss to make the lofty claim.
Bob Bradley's LAFC have been a dominant force in the opening weeks of the 2019 MLS season, and currently sit five points clear atop the Western Conference standings (27 points from eight wins, three draws and a loss in 12 matches).
LAFC captain Carlos Vela tops the race for the MLS golden boot with 12 goals in as many matches.
“In my opinion, in watching all the games and all the teams, they’re the Man[chester] City of MLS,” Porter said.
“The budget, the talent, the way they play, that’s the best team in the league. And as I’m standing there at 1-0, I’m looking at my team and my feeling was that I was proud of them for how they played, everything they gave."
Manchester City clinched back-to-back English Premier League titles this season, wrapping up the 2018-19 crown with a 4-1 win over Brighton on Sunday.
