Aston Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane can’t wait for the English Football League (EFL) Championship play-off semi-final first leg clash against West Bromwich Albion.
Hourihane has a lot of respect for our opponents West Brom and knows they will provide a very stern test for Dean Smith’s men.
But the 28-year-old also knows the claret and blues are in fine form – and will be backed by vociferous home support.
“It is going to be fantastic. The home game, this place will be absolutely buzzing and it will be a great occasion," Hourihane said.
“West Brom are a good side and we have not beaten them this season yet. We drew at their place, unfairly in my point of view with the handball, and they beat us at home.
“Hopefully this time we come out with the right result.”
The Baggies defeated us 2-0 here on home soil in the league – but Hourihane thinks we’re stronger than we were then.
“We are a different team to the one which lost here now. We play some very good stuff and have some good players in our team," he added.
“We feel we are a strong starting XI and bench. There are people fighting for places, left right and centre.
“Everyone is being kept on their toes. That only brings a good mentality to the side and we are different proposition now.”
