PSV Eindhoven coach Mark van Bommel says his team’s priority is to first win their Eredivisie clash against De Graafschap later today.
The Dutch champions have been usurped at the top of the Eredivisie table by Ajax, who enjoy a significant goal difference advantage over their rivals.
With both teams expected not to drop any further points between now and the end of the season, Ajax’s goal difference could literally decide the title.
Hence it is expected that PSV will target big wins to try and make up the ground in this regard, but van Bommel insists securing the three points is first and foremost in his mind.
“We know Ajax lead the pack on goal difference but it would not make sense to just go out and look to earn a victory with a large winning margin. Winning the game is always our main priority and Sunday will not be any different,” said the PSV manager.
He added, “And we also need to win all of our next five games. But scoring a lot of goals is easier said than done.
“We have netted an amazing 87 goals this season, which is not too bad. But there is one team that has found the back of the net even more.
“I don’t think it will bear fruit to make wholesale changes. We will go out and try and win the game with a large winning margin but in fact that’s we what we always do. And that’s why we often score in the closing stages,” concluded van Bommel.
