Juventus defender Daniele Rugani has urged AFC Ajax counterpart Matthijs de Ligt to join him at the Italian champions.
De Ligt is one of the most sought-after young players in Europe, having enjoyed a major role in Ajax’s ascension to the top of the Eredivisie as well as into the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League, where they took on Juventus in a first-leg tie in Amsterdam last night.
The likes of Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have been linked with a move for the 19-year-old, but Rugani reckons de Ligt would be a great signing for Juve.
"I know him, I faced him for the national team,” said Rugani.
"Could we play together in the future? Yes, why not? It's always nice to play with strong players. Ajax has many strong guys, it's normal to have a market around them."
Juventus could certainly use some fresh legs in their defence, which is currently led by 34-year-old Giorgio Chiellini, 37-year-old Andrea Barzagli and 31-year-old Leonardo Bonucci.
You can see de Ligt and his Ajax teammates in Eredivisie action on Saturday 13 April when they host struggling Excelsior at the Johan Cruyff Arena. Live coverage on Fox Sports 2 begins at 18h20 CAT.
