Ahead of an Eredivisie match away to Vitesse Arnhem later today, PSV Eindhoven coach Mark van Bommel has labelled his team “solid”.

The Eredivisie champions will be in action at the GelreDome this afternoon and you can catch the game live on Fox Sports 1 from 16h35 CAT.

“We are a solid team and keep our opponents away from our goal. We have been doing so for a long spell. We sometimes need time to slice open defences and score goals, but regularly succeed in doing so, which is one of the team’s qualities,” said van Bommel, who saw his side win 4-0 at home to PEC Zwolle in midweek.

“We struggled in the first half but comfortably coasted to a 4-0 win,” added the former Dutch international, who was delighted when Steven Bergwijn doubled the lead in the match.

“I felt more like a player than a coach at that moment,” admitted van Bommel. “It was a wonder strike and I felt so happy for Steven.”

The coach also singled out Gastón Pereiro for praise, with the Uruguayan playmaker’s outstanding passing coming to the fore.

“Pereiro has rare qualities: he can keep possession of the ball and deliver accurate passes even when he is put under pressure buy opponents,” van Bommel explained.

“He makes it look so easy. And he never panics when he is dropped to the bench: he will just carry on when he is handed a start.”

Van Bommel is expecting a stern test for PSV: “I’ve said it before, Vitesse are a tough side. They are organised, very compact and have good players.”
