woods feeling 'good' ahead of players championship

Former world number one Tiger Woods says he is feeling 'good' ahead of this week's Players Championship.

The American golf superstar withdrew from the recent Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Woods had a suffered a neck strain having competed in three tournaments this year which forced home to miss the PGA Tour event.

The 14-time major champion is looking forward to the Players Championship which will be held at the Stadium Course in Florida, USA.

"I feel good,'' Woods, who is generally considered one of the greatest golfers of all time, told Golfweek

"I needed last week off... I didn't want to push it. No need to. Not at my age (43). Can't do that anymore."

Woods will be looking to win the Players Championship for the third time having won the tournament in 2001 and 2013.

The Players Championship currently offers the highest prize fund of any tournament in golf ($12.5 million in 2019).

It overtook the U.S. Open which offers a $12 million purse.
