PSV Eindhoven defender Daniel Schwaab has hailed his team’s winning mentality after they defeated NAC Breda in the Eredivisie this past weekend.
PSV ensured they would end the weekend top of the log as they overcame the visitors 2-0 at the Philips Stadion thanks to goals from Luuk de Jong and Donyell Malen.
It was not the most convincing performance from the Eredivisie champions, but with the season entering the final stretch, results are the paramount consideration.
“Winning games is all that matters,” Schwaab said in his post-match interview, as quoted by PSV’s official website.
“It was not a very entertaining game and that’s why it is important to keep a clean sheet,” added the German centre-back.
“We had the cutting edge up front to break the deadlock early on. We have bagged three points and that is all that matters.”
The upturn in form of rivals Ajax has seen PSV come under increasing pressure at the head of the Dutch top flight, though they remain the favourites for the title as things stand.
PSV will continue their Eredivisie campaign with a match away to VVV Venlo at the Covebo Stadion next Sunday, 17 March. The clash will be live on Fox Sports 1 from 13h05 CAT.
