Turkish Super Lig club Fenerbahce suffered another major setback in their quest to avoid relegation.
The Turkish giants suffered a 2-1 defeat away to league leaders İstanbul Başakşehir on Saturday, to remain in 14th place on the log standings, a mere two points above the relegation zone.
Former Brazil international Robinho fired the hosts in front before Roberto Soldado's equaliser halfway through the second-half. Stefano Napoleoni, though, would make sure of all three points for the table-toppers with seven minutes remaining to condemn Fenerbahce to their ninth defeat of the season.
The Turkish giants have struggled all season and despite an upturn in results last month, one win in their last five leaves the club reeling uncharacteristically close to the drop zone.
Next up for Fenerbahce is a clash against 11th placed Ankaragücü on Friday.
The club boast several African stars including Victor Moses, Andre Ayew, Carlos Kameni and Islami Slimani.
