Lionel Messi will play for Argentina in back-to-back international friendlies this month, having ended a self-imposed hiatus.

The 31-year-old hasn't featured for the South American nation since their 2018 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 exit. La Albiceleste lost 4-3 to eventual champions France in Kazan, Russia.

Argentina will face Venezuela in Madrid on the 22nd of March before jetting off to Tangier to take on hosts Morocco four days later.

Messi's return will come as a major boost to head coach Lionel Scaloni as Argentina ramp up their preparations for the upcoming Copa America in Brazil. The South American tournament kicks-off on the 14th of June.

The Barcelona ace is Argentina's all-time leading goalscorer having netted 65 goals in 128 appearances.

Messi is in phenomenal form at club level this season, having netted 33 goals and assisted a further 18 in 34 appearances across all competitions.
