Robin van Persie scored a hat-trick for Feyenoord in a 4-0 thumping of FC Emmen at De Kuip in Rotterdam, in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday.
The former Arsenal and Manchester United forward opened his account seven minutes before the break, before adding two more following the interval as Feyenoord returned to winning ways in the league. Steven Berghuis completed the rout with his seventh goal of the campaign.
Van Persie fired the hosts in front in the 38th minute, poking home from close range following a good run and subsequent lay-off from Sam Larsson.
The 35-year-old doubled the hosts lead in the 52nd minute. Berghuis provided the perfect through ball for the Feyenoord skipper who beat the offside trap, before guiding the ball home with his right-foot from an acute angle.
Van Persie completed his hat-trick nine minute later, pouncing on a loose ball and finishing with aplomb for his 14th goal of the league season.
Berghuis put the game beyond any resasobale doubt in the 76th minute with a superb free-kick goal that rifled into the top corner of the net.
Victory retains Feyenoord's three point advantage over AZ Alkmaar, who beat Sittard 4-2 at the same time, on the log standings. Third-placed Feyenoord remain 10 points behind second placed Ajax Amsterdam who are a further five adrift of log leaders PSV.
