Ghana Member of Parliament, Honourable O.B. Amoah, has praised Asante Kotoko for their performances in African club competition.
Asante are sitting at the bottom of Group C in the 2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup, and have a home game against Zambia’s Nkana FC at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi this coming weekend, but simply progressing as far as they have is already a fine showing.
This is because the Porcupine Warriors have seen no competitive domestic action for months, with the corruption scandal in Ghanaian football bringing a grinding halt to their league structures.
Defying the odds in their first Confederation Cup campaign in more than a decade has at least provided a silver lining for football fans in Ghana.
"I think Kotoko has over-achieved in Africa this year and we are happy judging from the circumstances our football is going through,” Amoah told Sikka FM, as quoted by Football Ghana.
"Currently there is a supporters group of Kotoko made of Members of Parliament who are fans of Kotoko and are ready to assist the club."
The Kumasi-based club may be at the bottom of the group standings, but a win at home to Nkana would not only avenge their 3-1 defeat in Kitwe last weekend, but also bring them right back into quarterfinal contention.
