Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester City are both keen on signing PSV Eindhoven youngster Mohammed Ihattaren.
Calciomercato reports that the English heavyweights are ready to battle it out for the player of Moroccan descent, but may face further competition from the likes of Internazionale and Barcelona.
The 16-year-old, who was born in Utrecht and featured in the Netherlands’ team which won the 2018 UEFA European U-17 Championship, has caught the eye with his performances in the UEFA Youth League.
The Dutchman usually plays in central midfield but can also be deployed down the right flank.
A product of the PSV youth programme, Ihattaren signed his first professional contract with the Eredivisie club in March 2018.
The teenager made his first-team debut in a 2-1 win over Groningen on 26 January this year.
Chelsea have recruited young players from the Netherlands in the past, with Daishawn Redan signing for them from Ajax and currently impressing in their youth squad.
Manchester City have also established a reputation of recruiting the best young talent from across Europe.
The capture of Ihattaren would be a huge deal for either club as he is regarded as one of the best up-and-coming prospects.
PSV will be in Eredivisie action this coming weekend when they play away to Utrecht. The match at the Stadion Galgenwaard will be live on Fox Sports 1 from 17h35 CAT on Sunday 10 February.
