Senegal booked their place in the 2019 CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-finals after defeating African giants Ghana.
The Young Lions of Teranga beat the Black Satellites 2-0 in a Group B encounter in Maradi, Niger on Wednesday.
Youssouph Dabo and his charges will be representing Senegal at their third appearance at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in May in Poland.
Senegal coach Dabo is pleased to have led the team to the World Cup finals as it was their aim.
“It was very difficult against Ghana who are strong in midfield but we played to our instructions and we managed to win," Dabo said.
“We have qualified but it doesn’t mean we will go into the game against Burkina Faso not wanting to win.
“Our objective was to qualify for the World Cup which has been achieved now we will take it game by game because now it’s a matter of winning or you’re out of the tournament.”
Senegal will be looking to win the U20 AFCON title for the first time this year.
