Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is hoping the Spanish giants sign his compatriot Eden Hazard rather than Brazilian Neymar in the European summer.
Courtois swapped Chelsea for the Real at the start of the current season, with Los Blancos able to sign the ‘keeper for a reduced fee because he had just one year of his contract at Stamford Bridge remaining.
Attacker Hazard will be in the same situation at the end of the current season and it is widely speculated that Real will look to sign him. The Belgian attacker is also unsettled at the Blues after coming in for criticism from manager Maurizio Sarri.
However, Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar is also mooted as a possible signing for the Madrid side – despite the fact that they will surely have to smash the world record for a transfer fee to bring the Brazilian to the Bernabeu.
When asked for his opinion on the duo by Het Nieuwsblad, Courtois explained that he would opt for Hazard over Neymar.
"I [would] choose Eden, of course. I really like him, but the choice is up to the board. I do not know what will happen. That is not a question for me, but for the chairman and the management,” said Courtois.
"The team is what it is now. Karim Benzema is in a good shape and scored 17 goals. [Gareth] Bale started well, but then had to deal with injuries. You see in the matches that we have quality, only sometimes it is not possible to score."
