English Football League (EFL) League One's Sunderland AFC have sold their star forward Josh Maja to French Ligue 1 club Girondins de Bordeaux.
The 20-year-old striker, who has been one of Black Cats' best players this season, has signed a four-and-a-half year deal with the Girondins.
Bordeaux released the following statement announcing the signing of the starlet:
"The Girondins de Bordeaux are delighted to announce the arrival of Josh Maja from Sunderland. At just 20 years of age, the young London-born striker spent spells with the academies of Crystal Palace, Fulham and Manchester City before joining Sunderland."
"Pacy, technical and a clinical finisher, Josh Maja is an out-and-out striker and a very promising prospect for the future. He has already racked up 15 goals in 24 appearances in League One so far this season. Everyone here at the club is delighted to welcome such an exciting young talent to Bordeaux," a club statement read.
Maja, whose full name is Joshua Erowoli Orisunmibare Oluwaseun Maja, decided not to extend his contract with former English Premier League (EPL) side and Sunderland have since sold him.
The Black Cats also confirmed the talented attacker's departure on their official website.
A club statement read: "Josh Maja has completed a move to Bordeaux. The 20-year old Sunderland AFC academy graduate has joined the French Ligue 1 side on a permanent basis."
