Dutch Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven have announced that goalkeeper Yanick van Osch has sustained a long-term injury.

The 21-year-old player is set for a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a knee injury during a training session at the training camp in Doha.

Van Osch, who is a highly-rated shot-stopper, will now travel back to Holland where he is expected to start his rehabilitation.

“I will fly back to Eindhoven to start rehabilitation sessions," said Van Osch.

PSV Director of Football John de Jong lamented the young goalkeeper’s bad luck.

“It’s a hugely disappointing. We have told Yannick he will not have to worry about a new contract," De Jong said.

"His contract is due to expire but we have decided to activate the option to extend his stay at PSV so that he can solely focus on his recovery from injury.”

Van Osch made his professional debut for Dutch Eerste Divisie side Jong PSV in 2015.
