Ivory Coast star Franck Kessie has called for AC Milan teammate Gonzalo Higuain to ignore speculation linking him with a move to Premier League giants Chelsea.
The Argentina striker is being strongly linked with a transfer to Stamford Bridge, in a deal which could see Alvaro Morata heading in the opposite direction after failing to impress for the Blues.
The proposed move would also see Higuain reuniting with manager Maurizio Sarri. The forward scored an incredible 36 Serie A goals for Sarri’s Napoli in 2015/16, before being sold to Juventus.
However, Kessie hopes there’s nothing behind the rumours and the striker remains at the San Siro at least until the end of the season.
"Higuain off in January? He's a great champion, we believe a lot in him, I hope he stays here with us,” said the Ivory Coast international.
"(Gennaro) Gattuso, he's a great coach. You must concentrate, if you do not give the maximum he screams at anything, he's an honest guy.
"Goals? At the beginning of the year we decided to aim for the Champions League, and we'll do everything to do it."
In related news, Milan are said to be leading the race to sign Ghanaian midfielder Alfred Duncan from Sassuolo.
