DTM boss Gerhard Berger says this past weekend’s season-opening round at the Hockenheim Circuit was one of the best in the history of the series.
The on-track action saw Timo Glock claim a hard-fought victory ahead of Mike Rockenfeller and Gary Paffett, with Berger moved to compare the racing to MotoGP, which is renowned for producing the spectacular.
“These were incredible, thrilling duels. Everybody was involved in fights all the time and still left each other enough room,” Berger was quoted by the official DTM website.
“I always say that MotoGP provides the best motorsport and I think that today, we have staged motorsport at this level.”
He added, “We have promised our fans wheel-to-wheel duels and today, we delivered. Changes of the regulations were minimal, but what we have done, was obviously spot-on.”
The next round of the 2018 DTM season will be held on May 18-20 at the Lausitzring.
