Emery tips Aubameyang to outscore Salah and Co.
Arsenal head coach Unai Emery is confident that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can challenge the likes of Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane and Sergio Agüero in the race for the English Premier League golden boot.
Aubameyang currently tops the charts with 10 goals, having netted a brace in the Gunners 4-2 win over North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.
The Gabon international scored with 10 successive shots on target before drawing a blank against Manchester United in midweek, as the Red Devils held on for a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.
This opened the door for Kane who cut Aubameyang's deficit atop the rankings to a single goal heading into this weekend's round of fixtures.
"To me, his challenge is that he has the possibility to be the best scorer in the Premier League," said Emery, as per the Independent. "We want to help him achieve this because if he is scoring he is helping us.
"It is also important for him that he takes confidence from matches like Tottenham, not only from scoring but helping with the pressing against them, too.
"It is also the moment to say to him 'don't stop'. I want him to continue to improve, and his challenge is collective as well as individual," Emery concluded.
The 29-year-old has scored 22 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions for Arsenal since his move from Borussia Dortmund in January. Arsenal are at home to Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
